    Job Description
    Title:                Full-Charge Bookkeeper
    Status:              Full-time, Exempt
    Reports to:       CEO
    The Bookkeeper will maintain an accounting system that conforms to generally accepted accounting procedures for non-profit organizations. He/she will responsible for payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial & tax reports, account reconciliation, and will supervise all cash-handling activities. He/she will serve as a liaison to the treasurer of the Stockton Symphony Alliance. As a member of a small administrative team, this person will also be expected to participate in a variety of duties that extend beyond those outlined in this job description as necessary and appropriate.
    RESPONSIBILITIES for this position shall include but not be limited to the following:

    1. maintain separate and accurate records on all unrestricted and restricted funds of the Association and its support groups
    1. maintain accurate records on all cash receipts, disbursements and balance sheets
    • track & balance all cash receipts and maintain accurate records of source, amount and purpose; post receipts to appropriate accounts in the general ledger
    • prepare & make deposits
    • process requests for cash disbursements as directed by policy, posting to general ledger and ensuring accurate accounting for expenditures according to the Association’s chart of accounts
    • monitor accounts receivable, invoicing as needed
    1. prepare payroll on a semi-monthly basis for staff and on a per-concert basis for musicians in conjunction with personnel manager and executive director, inclusive of all payroll liabilities
    1. assure timely filing of required Federal, State, local & sales tax reports
    1. reconcile all bank statements on a monthly basis; monitor balances of online accounts
    1. serve as principal liaison to technical support for computerized accounting systems
    1. prepare monthly financial statements including balance sheets and statements of activity
    1. work with executive director in preparation of annual budget and regular cash flow projections
    1. work with the treasurer and the investment committee to ensure proper accounting procedures for restricted funds
    1. work with Association auditors to prepare annual reviews of the Association’s financial position
    1. serve as back-up receptionist as needed
